If you’ve ever had a problem with trolls or just someone who is personally harassing you on your Tumblr site, you may want to block them. To do so all you have to do is go into your account settings and type their IP address in the block list.

It’s important to note here that you don’t need to actually know the IP address of the person you’re trying to block. A lot of online services, like Tumblr, will make this available to you when someone posts something offensive. When they do, all you have to do is copy and paste it into your host’s file, and you’re done.
How to Block an IP address on Tumblr
Tumblr does not have much of an interface for managing your IP bans. Most users will never need to block or ban any IP address on Tumblr. However, if you are running a large blog, selling products or services online, or otherwise managing a lot of traffic through your Tumblr account, there may come a time when you want to block a specific IP address from accessing your content.
Blocking an IP address is easy, but Tumblr doesn’t make it very obvious how to do it. The process involves editing your blog’s settings and then adding the desired IP addresses in the “Ask” section of the settings page.
To get started, log in to your Tumblr account and click the gear icon next to your blog’s name in the dashboard. You can also access this page by clicking “Settings” under your blog’s name in the dashboard.
Once you have accessed the settings page for your blog, scroll down to the “Ask” section and you will see a field labeled “Block specific IP addresses from submitting asks:”
Enter any IP addresses that you want to ban (separated by commas) into that text box and click “Save changes.” Be careful when entering the IP Address.
How to Unblock an IP address on Tumblr
To unblock an IP address on Tumblr, log in to the social network’s dashboard. Click the gear icon to access the Settings area, and then click the name of your blog in the Blogs list. Select Preferences from the menu on the left side of the page, and then click Edit next to Blocked Tumblrs.
Type or paste an address into the text field at the bottom of the page, and then click Unblock to remove it from the list.
