Sometimes a TV power button might malfunction and stop working. In that case, you can use your remote to turn on the television. But what if your remote is also not working? There are three methods of turning on a TV without a remote or power button
Method 1 – Control with your Phone
Step 1: If you have an Android phone, it probably already has the Google Home app installed. If you don’t have it, download it here. If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, click here to download the Apple Watch app.
Step 2: Open up either of these apps and sign into your Google account (you can use the same account that’s linked to your TV). You’ll be able to see any smart TVs that are connected to the same network as the phone or tablet—just tap on one of them to get started.
Step 3: From there, follow along with each step as instructed by each app. In general terms, this means pressing buttons on your remote until it turns on both your TV and whichever streaming box/stick is connected (if applicable)
Method 2 – Find the button in the TV
If you’re looking for a way to turn on your TV without using the remote or power button, try this:
Look at the TV and find a button that is labeled with “on” or “enter.” This will be located somewhere near the top or side of your set.
Press this button once. You can now use your remote control to turn on your TV set as usual.
Method 3 – Unplug, Wait and Plug in
Unplug, wait and plug in
The simplest solution of all is to unplug your television, wait 30 seconds and then re-plug it in. This can be useful if you’ve just bought a new remote control that doesn’t work with your TV or if the power button on the remote has stopped functioning.
We covered three ways to turn on your TV without a remote or power button. You can use the buttons on the front of your TV or the buttons on your TV’s remote, but if you don’t have either one of those, you can connect your smartphone with an app like Smart TV Remote Control to control everything.
